Robert Anthony Diess Student at NJIT, of Verona, 23 Robert Anthony Diess, 23, of Verona died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 9:15 a.m. from Shooks Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Ave. (Route 23), Cedar Grove. The Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake R.C. Church, Verona. Services will conclude at Rosedale Cemetery, Orange. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Born in Livingston, Robert was raised in Verona and graduated with the Verona High School, Class of 2002. He was a full-time student in his last semester at NJIT in Newark, working towards obtaining his degree this year in electrical engineering. He was also a member/brother of the Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity at NJIT. Robert worked his summers and also part-time at American Royal Hardware Store in Montclair. He was always very handy! Rob also loved to workout and was a member of Adrenaline Fitness in Verona.

The beloved son to Terry and Barbara (nee Jerome) Diess, he was the cherished grandson to Ben and Janet Jerome, and also the late Luke and Kathleen Diess. Robert is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a dear girlfriend of five years, Julie Schilling. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Verona Rescue Squad.
